Food Security and Livelihoods

This year in Kuron, we’ve seen neighbors working side by side in the fields and at training sessions, eager to learn new ways to grow food and start small businesses. There’s a real sense of hope as families pick up practical farming skills and discover better ways to provide for themselves.
One hundred people—an even mix of men and women—came together in small groups to learn, support each other, and try out new ideas. When the seeds and tools arrived, you could feel the excitement as everyone got their hands in the dirt, setting up demonstration plots that doubled as outdoor classrooms. The Mennonite Central Committee’s support has been more than just financial; it’s helped bring the community together and given people the confidence to face changing weather and new challenges. Farmers are now sharing what they’ve learned with neighbors, and you can see the difference in the lush, green plots across Kuron. These changes aren’t just about growing more food—they’re about building a future where families feel secure, incomes can grow, and the whole community becomes stronger, one harvest at a time.
