Seeds of Peace: Kuron Communities Build a Stronger Future Together
March 20, 2026 · Peace Village Team · Peacebuilding

In Kuron, it’s not uncommon these days to see people from different backgrounds sitting together, sharing stories and laughter as they build trust. The peacebuilding and dialogue efforts here have brought neighbors closer and encouraged folks to handle disagreements with patience and respect. Whether it’s a meeting under a shady tree or a training session, the goal is always the same: to help everyone feel heard, understood, and part of a peaceful future.
With the steady support of the Mennonite Central Committee, peace committees are learning how to guide conversations and gently steer tense moments toward understanding. These gatherings aren’t just formal meetings—they’re safe spaces where people air their worries, celebrate small wins, and slowly build bridges toward real reconciliation.
People from all walks of life join these conversations—farmers, elders, young people, and especially women, whose voices are being heard more than ever. Women leaders have stepped up, sharing ideas and showing just how important it is for everyone to have a seat at the table when it comes to building peace.
Local leaders and peacebuilders have taken on tough conversations, reaching out to neighbors in places like Toposa and Murle to mend old rifts. With patience and steady engagement, peace committees are slowly helping communities find common ground and feel safer together.
There are still obstacles—politics sometimes get in the way, and official recognition for peace committees can be slow. But despite these hurdles, the determination to keep the peace is stronger than ever. Many committees lean on local traditions and trusted leaders to keep conversations going and calm tensions before they escalate.
Looking ahead, the spirit in Holy Trinity Peace Village Kuron is one of hope and commitment. By nurturing these dialogue spaces and supporting local peacebuilders, the community is planting seeds for a more peaceful and united future—one conversation at a time.
